In art class our teacher Sarah Gibbons has taught us about china and chinese calligraphy. Above is a work of nature it is a flowering plant in the corner it is signed in chinese. What went well with the
calligraphy was the practice strokes. What didn't go as well was when we did
actual characters because they were more difficult. What
went well with the the brush paintings of flowers and nature.
What I think didn't go as well was the bamboo drawing on sumi paper. When using the bamboo ink
and brush the way of holding it was difficult because I kept wanting to hold
the brush like a pencil. When
actually creating bamboo we had to pay attention to the ink mixes and getting a
balance of them over all. I liked doing brush paintings in this unit it was fun and I think that I learned a lot. If I had the chance to do this again I would change nothing because It was fun and I learned a lot through this project.
